Activant was Acquired by Epicor
Activant was created in the early 1980s and grew by acquiring other software systems. The Activant software that evolved out of this is an amalgam of many different systems, some that were quite different from others. Activant was subsequently acquired by Epicor in 2011. Activant is based on legacy on-premises technology and has subsequently been combined with other Epicor products.
Unlike Activant, Accolent ERP is Cloud-based ERP software written to current technology standards and runs in the AWS Public Cloud. Also unlike Activant, Accolent ERP was written from scratch (based on the older Advantage software product), not by combining different software products.
Accolent ERP is a good alternative to consider for businesses using Activant that have concerns about whether or hw the Activant platform will be supported by Epicor, and if so in what form, or are uncertain as to whether Activant support will be available in the future or have had difficulty integrating Activant with other systems.
